Star Legacy Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph - Limited Edition 200

For the two-hundredth anniversary of its invention, Montblanc pays homage to Nicolas Rieussec’s inking chronograph with this 200-piece limited edition whose functions are modelled on those of the historic device. Two rotating disks for the chronograph 60-second and 30-minute counters occupy the bottom section of the dial, which is decorated with barleycorn guillochage. A double-tipped blued hand is fixed between them to recall the system imagined by Rieussec, which measured time by depositing droplets of ink on rotating dials. At 12 o’clock, an off-centre dial displays hours and minutes by means of Roman numerals around a lacquered chapter ring. An openworked hand points to a second time zone, complete with a day/night indication. There is also a date aperture at 6 o’clock. The same attention to detail has been given to the decoration of the MB R200 movement, which is visible through the sapphire back of the 44.80mm steel case.
