Tank Normale Skeleton
Cartier takes the iconic design of the Tank Normale, launched in 1919, and adds the characteristic aesthetic of a skeletonised movement. Further distinction comes from a 24-hour complication, embodied by a skeletonised crescent Moon and a Sun. While the minute hand makes its usual one rotation an hour, the hour hand travels the dial at half the usual pace, once in 24 hours rather than twelve. Hence daytime hours are read from the top part of the dial whereas night-time hours are shown in the bottom section. So as to symbolise this transition between day and night, the skeletonised bridges show a gradient that separates the two halves of the dial. There are two 50-piece limited editions, executed in yellow gold on a brown alligator strap with a second green strap, or in platinum with straps in burgundy and grey. A 20-piece limited edition in platinum with diamonds on the case completes the line-up.
