The dial of this Tonda 1950 is fashioned from abyss blue meteor rock. Working with meteor rock is a delicate process: because it is harder than normal rock, it is difficult to machine. Its mineral structure is also unpredictable. At 2.6 mm high, the PF 701 calibre inside will doubtless be used in numerous future settings. Indeed, the case for the Tonda 1950 was designed with a thickness of 7.8 mm, and while this falls within the range of ultra-thin models it is deliberately not as thin as it could have been. Thanks to this, the Tonda 1950 family can be enhanced with additional complications and modules without having to alter the thickness of its case.
