Themes: Design, Technical
Specificities: Tourbillon, Skeleton
In 1778 John Arnold turned a page of timekeeping history when, after 13 months of trials at the Greenwich Observatory, a watch of his making proved far more precise than any other instrument of the day. Arnold celebrated this success by naming his invention Chronometer N°1/36 – the first ever instance of the word "chronometer" in watchmaking. In honour of the 240th anniversary of this innovation, Arnold & Son presents the Tourbillon Chronometer N°36 – with COSC certification. Following the classical codes of traditional English chronometer movements, the main pivoting elements such as the wheels, barrels and tourbillon are each mounted on their own bridge, the majority of which are skeletonized. The one-minute tourbillon at 5 o'clock is assembled from no less than 58 parts. Also proposed in steel.
